Mr. Shrikant R. Marathe is presently the Director of Automotive
Research Association of India
Qualification and Experience
He is a B.E. (Mechanical Engg.) from College of Engineering, Pune
and an M.E.(Automobile Engg.) from Indian Institute of Science,
Bangalore’. He started of his career in The Automotive Research
Association of India, Pune in 1972. Worked in a 2-wheeler
manufacturing company, TVS Motor Company, from.1981 to 1990. Was
heading engine research activities.
Worked in Bajaj Auto Limited, Pune from 1990 to 2005
Over as Director – ARAI on 30th September 2005.
Professional Highlights

Set up the ARAI initial facilities from 1972-1981
-
Was closely coordinating R&D activities with Suzuki Motor Co.,
collaborators for AX100 motorcycle manufactured in India - 1981 to
1990. Also indigenos development of engines for mopeds and small
vehicles.

Was heading the Engine R&D activities of Bajaj Auto from 1990 to
1994. Thereafter, heading the Product Engineering activities of
Bajaj Auto from 1994 to 2000. Was engaged in indigenous development
of vehicles and engines. From mid-2000 was concentrating on design
and development of 3-wheelers.

As a CEO of the ARAI, responsible for overall growth of the
organization and enhancement of facilities for advancement of
automotive technology.
Other Activities

Heading the technology group for Indo German cooperation under Dept.
of Heavy Industries, Govt. of India.

Heading the EV and HEV Technology panel under CAR.
-
Actively participating in WP29 activities.
